Pigeon guillemot numbers on Alaska's Naked Island Group have significantly increased. This recovery followed a multiyear effort to remove invasive American mink. Introduced mink had severely threatened the birds' nests, eggs, and young chicks. Previous pressures included environmental changes and the Exxon Valdez oil spill.
