If riding Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is on your Magic Kingdom to-do list this fall, you’re running out of time. The Frontierland attraction will only be open for one day in November before it closes for its first-ever refurbishment, and after the rough stretch this ride has had, the break could not come soon enough. November 1 is the final day to ride before Tiana’s Bayou Adventure goes down on November 2, leaving guests with fewer than two weeks to take one last trip through the bayou before the closure begins. There is good news for guests planning holiday trips, though. Operating hours have appeared on the Walt Disney World website for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure’s return from refurbishment, and they show the ride coming back online on Friday, December 18. That timing puts the attraction back in action just before the Christmas crowds take over Walt Disney World, which is one of the busiest stretches of the entire year at Magic Kingdom. For anyone planning a December visit, posted hours are a much stronger sign than a general reopening window. Here’s everything we know about the closure, the reopening, and what it means for your Magic Kingdom plans.Credit: DisneyReopening Hours Now Posted for December 18The Tiana’s Bayou Adventure attraction page on Disney’s website now lists operating hours of 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on December 18. There are no times listed for December 17, which lines up with Disney’s refurbishment calendar and points to December 18 as the official return date. After 6:00 PM on reopening day, the page lists a special ticketed event from 6:30 PM to 12:00 AM. That event is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and December 18 is one of 13 December party dates this year. The ride will be open during the party, so guests with party tickets will have a chance to experience the freshly refurbished attraction on its very first night back.Regular day guests will have until 6:00 PM to ride on reopening day. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party ticket holders can enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4:00 PM, which also gives them an opportunity to ride before 6:00 PM in addition to their time during the party itself.Credit: Rob Bixby, FlickrOne Detail Still Hasn’t Been UpdatedThere is one small inconsistency on the attraction page. The banner at the bottom still lists a general December 2026 reopening without a specific date. However, the posted operating hours are the more specific signal, and it’s expected that the ride will reopen on December 18 or possibly even sooner.Disney often updates different parts of its website at different times, so a lingering general banner isn’t unusual. Operating hours are typically the clearest indication of when an attraction is scheduled to return. Why This Refurbishment Is So Badly NeededTiana’s Bayou Adventure opened at Magic Kingdom on June 28, 2024, replacing Splash Mountain in Frontierland. While the attraction brought a new story, new music, and a bright new look to the iconic log flume, it hasn’t always run smoothly since opening. The ride’s Audio-Animatronics and effects have at times struggled, and regular riders have noticed that not everything consistently works as it should. For a major headliner at the most visited theme park in the world, that’s a real problem. Guests waiting in long lines expect the full experience, especially from an attraction that is still relatively new. This closure marks the first extended downtime for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure since its debut. The six-and-a-half-week refurbishment gives crews time to refresh the attraction and work on its effects and figures before the holiday rush. Bringing the ride back in top shape before Christmas week makes a lot of sense, since Magic Kingdom will be packed and guests will be counting on its biggest attractions being open.Credit: Cory Doctorow, FlickrWhat Closes With the RideTiana’s Bayou Adventure stays open through November 1, its last day before the refurbishment begins. The ride’s exit gift shop, Tiana’s Bayou General, will close alongside the attraction during the refurbishment. If you’re looking for nearby shopping, Critter Co-Op will remain open during the closure, so guests can still pick up merchandise in the area while the ride is down. How We Got HereThe timeline for this refurbishment has come together over the past few months:Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened at Magic Kingdom on June 28, 2024, replacing Splash Mountain.Walt Disney World’s calendar showed the ride closing for its first-ever refurbishment on November 2, with a December reopening expected. The refurbishment calendar later listed a specific December 18 reopening date.Disney’s website now shows operating hours for the ride starting December 18, with no hours available for December 17.Each update has pointed in the same direction, and the posted operating hours make the December 18 reopening look more solid than ever.Credit: Disney Planning Your Magic Kingdom VisitIf you’re visiting before November 2, make Tiana’s Bayou Adventure a priority, especially if you won’t be back until after the holidays. Once it closes, guests will have to wait about six and a half weeks to ride again. If your trip falls between November 2 and December 17, plan your Magic Kingdom day without it. Frontierland will be missing one of its biggest draws, so you may want to shift some of your time to other areas of the park. And if you’re heading to Walt Disney World for Christmas week, you should be in luck. With Tiana’s Bayou Adventure set to return on December 18, holiday visitors can still plan on a trip through the bayou, hopefully with everything working the way it was always meant to.The post Return Date Appears for Magic Kingdom Princess Attraction Ahead of Closure at Walt Disney World appeared first on Inside the Magic.
