I built a free shop management app for my friend's auto repair shop. Looking for shops to try it and tell me what's missing

Wait 5 sec.

My friend runs a small repair shop, and they were tracking jobs with a mix of paper tickets, texts and a whiteboard. So I built them a pilot app to keep everything in one place. It's still early, and I'd love honest feedback from people who actually run shops. It's free to use for now. You can sign up and set up your shop here: https://web-development-6ef5.up.railway.app **Heads up before you try it: Square card payments are connected to Square's sandbox (test mode), so the app won't take real card payments yet. Emailing invoices to customers is also still being set up. For now, record cash or other in-person payments and print the invoice.** Here's what it does right now: - Check in a customer and vehicle, record the complaint and mileage, and snap intake photos - Assign the job to a technician - Technicians get a simple phone screen to log diagnosis notes and photos, add parts and labor, run a work timer, flag additional work found, and mark the job complete - Build a quote from parts and labor, send it to the customer, and record their approval before work starts - Turn the approved work into an invoice, print a PDF, and take payment, with refunds if needed - Print receipts - Every vehicle keeps a full service history, so you can see what was done last time - A shop board shows every job by status, from checked in through paid, plus search by customer, vehicle, plate or job number - Separate logins for owners, admins, service advisors and technicians, each seeing only what they need. For example, techs never see part costs or margins - Works on a phone as well as a desktop, since most people in the shop are on their feet Here's a walkthrough video showing the whole flow from check-in to payment: [link] A few questions for shop owners: What are you using today, and what do you hate about it? Is anything here missing that would stop you from trying it? Would a simpler tool like this be worth switching for? Full disclosure: I'm the one building it. It's free while I figure out whether it's useful beyond one shop. submitted by /u/Inchardware [link] [comments]
