An Adenta Circuit Court has granted bail to a 23-year-old student accused of stealing GH¢1.5 million belonging to Bishop Daniel Obinim, founder of the International Godsway Church. Ohemaa Serwaa Abigail Owusu Ansah faces charges of conspiracy to commit a crime, to wit, theft. She has not yet entered her plea. The court admitted her to bail with two sureties, one of whom must be justified with landed property. She is expected to reappear on October 29, 2026. Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo, prosecuting, told the court that the complainant, Bishop Obinim, was a friend of the accused. The prosecution said the accused visited the complainant at his Lakeside residence on October 13, 2026.  During their conversation in the complainant’s room, he left for church, leaving the accused at the house. The following morning, at about 0700 hours, the complainant discovered that his safe had been broken into and GH¢1.5 million stolen. When confronted, the accused allegedly told the complainant she had contacted her father’s worker, Owusu, who sent two young men to the house. The prosecution said the accused led the two men into the room and showed them the safe. They allegedly broke it open, took the money and left. On October 16, at about 1400 hours, the accused was arrested and taken to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters. In her caution statement, she allegedly admitted to inviting the two men to the complainant’s house to break into the safe and steal the money. The prosecution said investigations were ongoing.
