Looking for anyone that’s got a deep understanding on the Belmont and how to troubleshoot it. We have 3 of them and for the ~two years I’ve been at this shop I’ve frequently ran into the same issue right after priming. Happens to the other nurses too. After priming the system line (100ml count down), and the patient line, we get an “Air Detection” alarm. The screen instructs us to squeeze the tube below the air detector to clear the line. This does absolutely nothing most of the time. As soon as the door is closed again, the error comes right back. I’ve tried so many different things to troubleshoot or to avoid this issue altogether. I’ve tried things such as system priming, letting the Belmont do the line priming as designed. I’ve tried priming the tubing by gravity (as you would prime regular IV tubing) and then loading the primed tubing into the Belmont. I’ve also tried squeezing the tubing below chamber(as directed), I’ve tried squeezing the chamber itself. I’ve even tried taking the tubing out and flipping it upside down and flicking it to force out any air there towards patient end before loading it back up. Ive tried everything I can think of. These troubleshooting attempts are very hit or miss. Sometimes they work on the first try, sometimes they don’t work at all. Why does this continue to happen in all 3 of the units so frequently? Is it user error? Am I doing something wrong? Is it the units themselves? Is it the air sensor that’s gone bad? In all 3 of them? We’ve gotten them seen by a technician before and they always check out fine. Wtf am I doing wrong during initial priming that’s causing this alarm, and what should I be doing to troubleshoot it quickly? Thanks in advance.
