The new James Bond era is already breaking new ground, with three actors playing 007 across different mediums.Credit: MGM/EON ProductionsRelated: ‘James Bond’ Reboot Officially Confirms Lead Actor, Plot, Release Window, and MoreThree James Bond Actors, Two Already RevealedWhile 007 First Light (2026) released earlier this year, with Patrick Gibson suiting up as a younger Bond, the game’s success has already led to talk of sequels under Amazon MGM, meaning the Dexter: Original Sin actor could return to the role at some point in the future. Either way, IO Interactive’s title is still new, and Gibson’s portrayal remains the newest Bond out there.Meanwhile, Big Finish Productions has confirmed that Isaac Rouse (The Crown Season 6) will voice a teenage Bond in Young Bond: SilverFin, an upcoming audio drama adaptation of Charlie Higson’s novel SilverFin (2005). That series will officially launch on October 29, this year.Credit: MGM/EON ProductionsThen, of course, there’s Amazon MGM’s film reboot, which has director Denis Villeneuve (the Dune films) at the helm, Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) on script-writing duties, and Amy Pascal (Spider-Man: Brand New Day) and David Heyman (the Harry Potter films) on board as producers. As yet, the film has no release date or title, and has yet to announce its new Bond.Nevertheless, when he is announced — and according to Pascal in an interview with Deadline, “the end of the year is a good bet” in terms of a reveal — that will be three Bond actors. While the film is understandably what’s getting the most attention, these multiple castings (which will have happened in the space of about a year), will mark a groundbreaking moment for the character. With all that said, there’s no reason to believe any of these portrayals will be connected to one another. Historically, Bond has simultaneously managed different iterations across media, and these projects are no exception in that regard. 007 First Light, SilverFin, and the untitled film aren’t the only upcoming 007 projects, either — there are also new books and comics releasing. In film, the next actor will effectively replace Daniel Craig following his five-film run, which included Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015), and No Time to Die (2021). The new movie from Amazon MGM will mark a new era for the character. There’s no release date yet.Which Bond are you most excited for? And who do you think will play him in the new film?
