Disney’s Hollywood Studios is adding something new to Disney Jollywood Nights this year, and it came out without much fanfare. Disney has quietly announced two brand-new characters coming to the holiday event, both pulled straight from the world of Monsters, Inc. For fans who love meeting deep-cut characters you’ll never see anywhere else at Walt Disney World, this is the kind of news that gets people talking.I’ll be honest, though. I’m not the biggest fan of Jollywood Nights. Every time Disney announces a new addition to the event, my first reaction is skepticism. It’s a separately ticketed party, and the price adds up quickly, especially for families. At the same time, I really do want this event to win me over. Each new character, show, or snack is another chance for Jollywood Nights to become the kind of night that feels worth what you pay to get in.So does adding two niche Monsters, Inc. characters change the math? Let’s look at what’s new, what’s returning, and what you actually get with a Jollywood Nights ticket this year.Meet the New Monsters, Inc. CharactersThe two new characters coming to Jollywood Nights are George Sanderson and Needleman. If those names don’t ring a bell, you’re not alone. These are very niche characters, but you’ll probably recognize them the second you see them.Needleman is the taller of the two. In Monsters, Inc., he works as a maintenance worker and door shredder at the factory.George Sanderson is the star of one of the most memorable scenes in the movie. After scaring a child, George comes back through the door with a sock stuck to his back. That triggers the famous 2319 code, and the CDA, or Child Detection Agency, swoops in and shaves off his fur to get rid of the “contamination.” It’s a quick moment in the movie, but it’s one fans have quoted for years.Credit: Pixar Animation StudiosMonsters, Inc. Isn’t New to Jollywood NightsThis isn’t the first time Monsters, Inc. has shown up at the party. Mike Wazowski has been part of Jollywood Nights before, and he’s been a fun, unusual character to meet. Adding George and Needleman takes things even further into deep-cut territory, which is exactly the kind of thing that makes a ticketed event feel special. Here’s where my skepticism comes in, though. Rare characters are great, but they also mean longer lines. If George Sanderson turns into the meet-and-greet everyone wants a photo with, guests could spend a big chunk of their night waiting in one queue. That’s something to think about before you buy a ticket just for these two.Returning Characters at Jollywood NightsDisney also shared some of the returning characters guests can expect this year, including:Baloo or King Louie from TaleSpinLotso from Toy Story 3Bo Peep from Toy StoryThe Mandalorian and GroguJoy from Inside OutAnd moreIt’s a fun and varied lineup. TaleSpin fans especially don’t get many chances to see these characters at Walt Disney World, and seeing The Mandalorian and Grogu at a holiday event adds a little something different to the night.Credit: Jess Colopy, Inside the MagicGlisten! Gets Disney Characters for the First TimeCharacters aren’t the only draw. Glisten!, the holiday skating show at Jollywood Nights, will include Disney characters for the first time ever this year. That’s a meaningful change. Bringing characters into the show could make it feel more connected to Disney and less like a generic holiday performance. If Disney gets this right, Glisten! could become one of the stronger reasons to attend. When Jollywood Nights Is HappeningDisney Jollywood Nights runs on select nights from November 7 through January 5 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Along with exclusive characters and entertainment, the event offers exclusive food and fewer crowds in the park than a typical day, which usually means shorter wait times for attractions. If you’re planning to go, don’t wait too long to decide. Select nights are already selling out.So Is It Worth the Ticket Price? This is the real question, and the answer depends on what you want from your night. If you love rare character meets, George Sanderson and Needleman are a genuinely unique reason to go. You won’t find them anywhere else at Walt Disney World, and adding them alongside favorites like Mike Wazowski, Lotso, and Bo Peep gives character hunters a lot to work with.If you’re more interested in the overall experience, the value comes from everything put together. Lower crowds, exclusive food, Glisten! with Disney characters for the first time, and a lineup of uncommon meet-and-greets could add up to a strong night if you plan well.Credit: Jess Colopy, Inside the MagicFor me, two new characters alone don’t make Jollywood Nights an automatic buy. But they’re a step in the right direction, and combined with the changes to Glisten!, this might be the year the event starts to feel more worth the cost. I’m cautiously hopeful. What about you? Do George Sanderson and Needleman make Jollywood Nights worth the ticket price, or are you still waiting for Disney to add more before you commit? The post Disney World Quietly Expands Popular Hollywood Studios Holiday Party appeared first on Inside the Magic.
