I built PDC Radar: a free directory of HR webinars that earn SHRM/HRCI recertification credits, plus 160+ HR conferences

Hi r/SideProject, My side project is for a niche I didn't know existed until recently. HR people with a SHRM-CP/SCP need 60 credits (PDCs) every three years to keep the cert. PHR/SPHR holders need 45–60 HRCI credits. Lots of vendors, law firms and associations run free webinars that count, but they're spread over dozens of sites. And they often say "credit pending" or don't name the amount until you dig. PDC Radar (https://pdc-radar.pages.dev) puts them in one place: 126 upcoming free webinars from 30 providers. You can filter by SHRM PDCs, HRCI credit type (General/Business/Global/Ethics), live vs on-demand, and date. 161 HR conferences for 2026–2027. Each has dates, city, venue, and price and credits only where the organizer publishes them. Pages are broken out by state, city, month and topic (HR tech, benefits, talent acquisition, employment law, people analytics). Plain-English recertification guides for SHRM and HRCI. Every rule links to the official handbook. A weekly email with that week's new free credit opportunities. How it's built A plain Node.js static site generator, with no framework. JSON in, ~380 static HTML pages out, plus a little vanilla JS for the filters. A weekly refresh script pulls each provider's public event pages and normalizes them into one schema. Every conference I add by hand goes into a separate manual file with a "verified on" date, so the refresh never overwrites it. One hard rule: no invented data. If an organizer doesn't state the credit amount or price, the site says "not stated" rather than guessing. Most of the work is checking official pages, not writing code. Hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It has schema.org Event/FAQ markup, a sitemap and IndexNow pings, a link checker that crawls every page, and a Playwright smoke test for the filters. The newsletter runs on Beehiiv. Where I'd love feedback Is the home page clear within 5 seconds if you're not in HR? Filters: is there one you'd expect that's missing? Monetization: I just put up a simple "launch pricing" advertise page (featured webinar listing, paid event listing, newsletter sponsor). Does that seem reasonable for a niche directory this early, or should I focus purely on growth first? Any good ways you've found to get a niche directory in front of professional associations without being spammy? It's free, with no login. Happy to answer questions about the scraping/verification side. That's the interesting (and tedious) part. submitted by /u/rpyeeee [link] [comments]
