Man drives 12 hours for reunion with college roommate, gets tipsy. Then he allegedly discovers he had been looting him for the last 4 years

A man’s weekend road trip to celebrate years of collegiate friendship went up in flames after the casual hangout exposed an allleged four-year history of betrayal. Content creator Joe (@sellwithjoe) opened up about the overdue reunion with his former roommate and how it abruptly devolved into a silent standoff in a TikTok video.  Joe explained the bizarre falling out, describing how he drove 12 hours across state lines to visit someone he considered one of his closest friends. Throughout all four years of sharing an apartment in college, Joe claimed that he had noticed personal belongings vanishing into thin air without explanation. “For the past four years, I have been randomly losing my fucking stuff. Like, I’m talking clothes, controllers. Like, one time I lost my iPad, and I still have not found it since.” The truth behind the lost items allegedly only came to light several drinks into the reunion, courtesy of an unexpected push notification. A resale notification unraveled years of missing electronics and clothes Having both graduated in May and relocated to different states, Joe and his former roommate planned a get-together to catch up over drinks and personal presentations at the friend’s apartment. By the time the drinks were flowing, an untimely notification allegedly illuminated the roommate’s screen that caught Joe’s eye. The alert reportedly revealed an incoming $25 offer on the resale platform Mercari for a pair of black baggy jeans. Joe claimed that his friend had never worn a black jeans ever. But Joe had spent four months searching for the same jeans that randomly disappeared. “I see a notification pop up on his screen. It’s an offer from Mercari for $25 for black baggy jeans,” Joe detailed. “Like this man has never worn baggy black jeans in his entire f—ing life. Like, I literally lost these f—ing jeans four months ago, I kid you not.” When Joe pressed on where the roommate got the denim, he reportedly chuckled and teased that he had a funny story to share. However, the confession that followed, revealed that the roommate had spent the entirety of their college career methodically swiping Joe’s belongings and flipping them online for pocket change. The steep discount on the jeans added insult to the injury The alleged revelation naturally turned the evening of drinking sour. Beyond the breach of trust, Joe found himself fixating on the insulting price tag his former confidant had slapped on his designer wardrobe. “That s—t was not funny, bro. He’s been stealing my stuff for the past four years and selling it. I was genuinely a little mad somebody only offered $25 for those black f—ing jeans, like I paid $120 for them. And they were damn near brand new, too.” But rather than erupting into an argument, the two spent the remainder of the evening in stone-cold silence. First thing the following morning, Joe says he packed his bags, got back into his car, and made the 12-hour drive back home, blocking his former friend and cutting ties permanently. We all agree that losing a hoodie or a charging cable to the shared-living void is an accepted rite of passage when you live with roommates. But having your closest friend run an active retail racket out of your closet is a special tier of deceit. So, the 12-hour drive home might have felt grueling, but leaving four years of gaslighting in the rearview mirror is about the cleanest break anyone could ask for.
