Road accident survivor Grace Akosua Asamoah fears she may never find someone who will love and care for her.She was involved in a terrible accident on March 15, 2024, while travelling from Jukwa to Cape Coast after receiving a distress call from her friend.According to Akosua, six people died on the spot, while several others, including her, sustained critical injuries as a result of the driver’s negligence, alleging that he had fallen asleep at the wheel. The traumatic experience gave her a different perspective on friendships and relationships.During an interview on Joy Prime’s Changes show with host Nikki Samonas, Akosua struggled to answer a question about whether she plans to get married and have children in the future, despite her condition.“Do you have plans of being in a relationship, getting married and having children one day?” Nikki asked“It’s difficult to answer but I can’t say; it’s all in the hands of God. If it pleases God for me to marry, so be it,” she replied. Before the accident, she said she was interested in getting married. However, she has since changed her decision and is now focusing on healing and regaining her facial beauty.Akosua considers the disfigurement of her face one of the reasons she is currently unwilling to pursue a romantic relationship. She is uncertain whether she will find a man who will genuinely love and accept her despite her condition.“Right now getting married and giving birth? No. I wanted to but not now,”When asked whether her condition was one of the reasons for her decision, Akosua responded, “That is one.”Akosua said she prefers to be alone rather than have friends, although she did not disclose the reasons for her preference. However, Nikki encouraged her not to feel inferior or see her condition as a barrier to finding a life partner who would genuinely love and care for her.“Don’t ever think of your position the way you are. There are those in wheelchairs who are married. You’re walking, talking and can eat, cook and work with your hands. The accident didn’t affect your hands, legs and waist. I don’t want you to ever tell yourself that because of this, no man should look at you. I cancel that low self-esteem in Jesus’ name,” Nikki admonished Akosua.Meanwhile, Grace Asamoah is seeking employment, having been at home since the accident. She has been undergoing surgeries to restore her facial appearance but needs financial assistance to cover the cost of the procedures. She is appealing to the public to help her secure a job so she can raise funds for her surgeries.Grace holds a bachelor’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Education, Winneba. Although her academic background is in education, she said she is willing to work in any field, citing her knowledge of psychology as an added advantage. She also expressed her willingness to accept support from benevolent individuals who may be willing to sponsor her surgeries or offer them free of charge.
