I’m a 3d animation creator and I’ve been working in 3d for about four years. My main focus is character animation, product visualization, and some environment work. Over the past two years, I’ve started wondering if traditional 2d monitors are limiting how I perceive 3d space. My current setup is a dual-monitor workstation, with a color-accurate 4K display as my main screen. Modeling, texturing, lighting, and rendering all work fine. But when it comes to judging spatial relationships, proportions, and the overall form of a model, I often find myself constantly rotating the viewport or checking from different angles. This is especially noticeable in character animation. Sometimes a model looks perfectly fine in a static view, but once it starts moving, I notice issues with proportions, poses, or spatial relationships that were not obvious before. That’s why I’ve started looking into spatial display technology, especially glasses free 3D displays. But most 3d displays seem to need their own software to work with blender. I have seen people using viewx, and the workflow looks a bit simpler. You can render in SBS in blender, then press the 2d/3d button on the display. I’m curious whether they can actually help 3D designers understand depth and spatial structure more naturally, rather than just providing a more immersive way to view content. Has anyone here used a glasses free 3d display regular with Blender or other 3d software? I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences. submitted by /u/smjefferson [link] [comments]
