Sometimes employers ask employees to do more than their job description entails, and it can be a frustrating experience for the worker, especially when the role ends up being completely different to the one they applied for. A former Walgreens pharmacist who was asked to move to retail claims she was given the boot by her bosses after standing her ground and refusing. The video, which was posted by TikTok user “@prismb1iss,” details the alleged conversation that went down between her and her boss that she claimed resulted in her being fired from Walgreens. The woman claimed that she had been hired by the pharmacy chain a mere two weeks before being told to leave. According to her, the description of the job she applied for listed it as “Pharmacy Tech.” During the interview, she claimed she was asked by the interviewers, “Did you want to be part of the retail side of Walgreens?” to which she responded with a resounding “no.” She said she clearly communicated that she wanted to build a career working as a pharmacist, “I couldn’t have been any more straightforward.” While her Walgreens bosses initially agreed and “acted like they understood,” Prismb1iss claimed she soon found herself being asked to “work the front.” She reiterated that she had been clear in the interview that she did not want to be a cashier. Walgreens called the employee in for a meeting Following her refusal to work the front, she claimed she was called into a meeting where she was told her employers expected her to “help out everywhere.” However, Prismb1iss said her boss’s instructions contradicted the description of the job she applied for as well as what she was told in the interview. When she tried to set a boundary, she was apparently told, “We set the boundaries.” The disagreement between employer and employee eventually reached an ultimatum in which she claimed she was told to give her Walgreens badge back and leave if she refused to work the front. She went on to claim that, during her brief time working for Walgreens, she noticed the store had been filled with Pharmacy techs who were constantly working the floor, something that she claimed was a “red flag.”  “This is how bad the job market is,” Prismb1iss said, “they have to start lying to you to get you to work for them.” She also questioned whether the company had acted legally when it fired her. In this case, she’d likely have to check what was in her contract. While she may have had verbal confirmation that she wouldn’t be made to work as a cashier, it won’t mean anything if it’s not written into her contract.
