ShareBarcelona host Real Madrid as they look to continue their perfect start in LaLiga.By Matt SmithHansi Flick’s side sit at the top of the table with 27 points from nine games, with the Catalan giants yet to drop a point. They face a Real Madrid side who are certainly starting to improve, having won each of their last four games in all competitions. The last time these two sides met was back in May, when Barcelona secured a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Ferran Torres and Marcus Rashford. The table heading in to the weekendTeam newsBarcelona have a number of injury problems heading into this game. Dani Olmo, Roony Bardghji, Andreas Christensen, and Eric García have all been ruled out for the home side.Jules Koundé could also miss out, as he’s a doubt due to an ankle injury, with the French international unlikely to be involved. Rodrygo, Ferland Mendy, and Raúl Asencio have all been ruled out for Real Madrid due to injury. Vinícius Júnior will also be unavailable for the away side as he remains suspended. The form of Arda Güler and Yan Diomande will certainly lessen the blow for José Mourinho. Barcelona’s unstoppable attackIn LaLiga, nobody has been able to contain Barcelona’s attack or even get close, for that matter. Flick’s side have created 33.6 expected goals in their nine matches, scoring a total of 39 goals. To put that into context, that is a whopping 4.3 goals per game. Barcelona did suffer a defeat in their toughest test of the season so far as they travelled to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. Despite pulling the game back to 2-2 with just over 10 minutes remaining, PSG secured the victory thanks to goals from Vitinha and Fabián Ruiz to make it 4-2. Mourinho getting a tune, but it’s not enoughMourinho is certainly getting a tune out of this Madrid side at the moment, but you have to be perfect in order to keep up with Barcelona in LaLiga. Two defeats in the league this season have put them already six points behind Barcelona, despite Mourinho having one of the best points per game records among recent Madrid coaches. The six-point gap between the two teams is what makes this game so crucial already. A victory for Barcelona will see them have a ridiculous lead for this stage of the season, while a win for Madrid makes things interesting again. Yan Diomande’s chance to step upWith Vinícius Junior still suspended, there could be a huge chance for Diomande to truly announce himself at Madrid. Barcelona’s attacking threat is obvious, so whether Madrid’s attack will turn up is the key to this game.Diomande is on a phenomenal run of form over the last four games, showing he’s finally settling in at Madrid. He has six goal contributions in Madrid’s last four matches, and he’s going to be crucial if they are to secure three points. PredictionIt’s still difficult to see Barcelona losing. We’re going for a 3-1 home win.(Cover image from IMAGO)You can follow every game from LaLiga with FotMob — featuring deep stats coverage, xG, physical metrics, and player ratings.
