The able-bodied Stress Relief (Not This Time) graduated on debut at Churchill Downs June 20, then won the GIII Adirondack Stakes at the Spa Aug. 2. The dark bay was well-beaten in her last start, which came in the GI Spinaway Stakes upstate Sept. 5.As a 3-1 shot here, Stress Relief shot out of the blocks before being taken back to race fifth up the backstretch. Second choice Angel of Kirk (Yaupon) stumbled at the start and was last. The Kinnon LaRose trainee fanned four-wide around the far turn and that move put her in the thick of the action turning for home. Reaching for the wire, the 2-year-old was up in time to catch longshot Glory Run (Girvin).“I don't think (I was worried that she was farther back than planned in the early stages),” said trainer Kinnon LaRose. “In horse racing, anything can happen. You always have Plan A, but you've got to have Plan B and Plan C, sometimes. Luis (Saez) rode her great. She broke maybe a step slow and it looked like Brad (Cox's) horse (Angel of Kirk) kind of stumbled and it caused a little altercation, but that's horse racing. Credit to Luis and credit to the filly. She showed a lot of heart today and I'm super proud of her.“It's awesome (to get a win for owner Dr. Joel Politi),” he added. “All the credit goes to them. I wouldn't be standing here without Tom Amoss and without Dr. Joel and owners who had Tom beforehand and stayed with me. It just shows how many loyal clients he had and I'm just very grateful to be in this position and hopefully can keep it going.”The winner has an older full-brother named Jupiter Bars who was sent to race in Russia this year. A $190,000 purchase for Dr. Politi during Keeneland September in 2019, Littlestitious foaled a filly by Liam's Map back in the spring and visited Girvin for 2027 before that sire's untimely passing. Stress Relief's dam is a half-sister to SW and colt in-training Sabino Canyon (Maxfield).Watch the full replay as STRESS RELIEF digs in to win the @DeanDorton Myrtlewood (L)!
