Congress has approached Samajwadi Party regarding contesting a significant number of seats in Uttar Pradesh. While Congress has proposed 175 to 200 seats, Samajwadi Party considers this demand excessive for the party's strength. Currently, Congress holds only two seats in the UP assembly of 403 members. The leadership of both parties will meet for discussions on seat-sharing arrangements.
