I'm a CS student in Dublin building Paprly, a tool that reads supplier invoices and sends them to Xero or QuickBooks as bills. I'm still looking for my first real users. This week I fixed credit notes. My parser read them fine, but I'd blocked the export, because sending a credit note to Xero as a normal bill adds to what you owe a supplier instead of reducing it. Quiet bug, wrong books. Doing it properly meant a different object in each system: a separate credit note type in Xero, and a Vendor Credit in QuickBooks. Amounts stay positive in both, because the document type is what flips the accounting. The funniest part was testing. My QuickBooks trial was on a plan that doesn't allow vendor credits, and my test company was in GBP while the invoice was in euros, so I had to relabel my test to get it through. If you work with invoices or bookkeeping, what do your tools get wrong with credit notes? submitted by /u/Hashtag_Maybe [link] [comments]
