I spend 200h doing drawing drills, hated existing reference sites, so i built my own 3D spatial training dojo with Three.js & Tauri.

Wait 5 sec.

Hey everyone, I'm a CS student and a digital artist. I realized that practicing anatomy and extreme angles by looking at flat 2D Pinterest photos was holding me back. I was just copying 2D shapes instead of actually understanding 3D volumes. So I spent the last few weeks building my own tool to fix this: Fundamentals Lab. It's a hardcore 3D spatial training dojo for artists. Instead of passive references, it forces you to build volumes under time pressure. The core features: 3D Spatial Drills: Models locked in perspective grids. You draw the volume from memory/observation under a strict timer. Spaced Repetition System (SRS): An algorithm tracks the exact camera angles (yaw/pitch) you struggle with and forces you to drill them again. Animation Mode (Disney Test): Gives you a freeze-frame. You draw the anticipation and the follow-through, then the 3D model animates in slow-mo to check your physics. Real-time Slicing & Shaders: A dynamic line-art shader that reacts to lighting, which you can copy-paste directly into Clip Studio Paint/Photoshop to check your proportions. The Tech Stack: Built with React and Three.js for the 3D engine, and packaged into a lightweight, native desktop .exe using Tauri. It's 100% local-first, zero-subscription, with data persisted in IndexedDB. I just launched the V1 today. I'd love to hear your thoughts, whether you're an artist or just curious about the WebGL/Tauri implementation! submitted by /u/TheEmperor2Z [link] [comments]
