After a year of quietly building my side project, I got my first paying user

Wait 5 sec.

So I've been working on this webapp for more than a year now. It's called Koby, and it turns ebooks into audiobooks right in your browser. I use it myself a lot, so it's been one of those side projects I keep coming back to. I've been improving it from time to time, fixing things I notice while using it and taking feedback from the few users who come back each week. At some point people asked for better voices, so I added a paid version with premium voices and syncing across devices. And last week, out of nowhere, I got my first paying user! The funny thing is I've barely promoted it. I've mostly just been quietly improving it for myself and the few people using it. So seeing that first payment come through after all this time working on it was such a happy little surprise! This post is also me finally sharing what I've been building a bit more, and hopefully encouraging anyone working on their own project to keep going and keep learning! These little surprises along the way feel really good hahah And to whoever that first paying user is, thank you! You really made my day :) submitted by /u/ArchiTechOfTheFuture [link] [comments]
