France has a habit of sending Liberty across the Atlantic. In 1886, she stood 151 feet tall in New York Harbor. This time she fits in a holster. TFB's Photo of the Day is the Manurhin MR73 Liberty, a 100-piece limited edition hand-built in Saint-Bonnet-le-Château for America's 250th birthday. Its "Liberty" engraving comes straight from the Declaration of Independence, joined by the town's centuries-old coat of arms, a nod to a region that supplied arms and munitions to the colonial cause. Beneath the ceremony sits a first for the platform: a 4-inch heavy-profile barrel and an unfluted cylinder, paired with the famous MR73 double-action trigger. Beretta USA showed it at Revolver Fest 2026 at The Clinton House Plantation in Clinton, South Carolina, together with new American-made leather holsters developed specifically for the MR73, with Norma Range & Training 158-grain .38 Special on the firing line. South Carolina was a fitting stage. Remember The Patriot from 2000? Mel Gibson played a South Carolina farmer turned militia leader, and France sent along an officer to help him take on the Redcoats. Same state, same French connection, now in revolver form. At $5,099, it is one expensive birthday card. I haven’t fired one yet, but I’ve handled and dry-fired them about as thoroughly as you can without going live.
