I built a shared pregnancy diary for couples because most apps treat partners like spectators

Wait 5 sec.

Hey Reddit, I’m a solo dev and I just launched Bump Diary, an iOS app for couples who are expecting. The idea came from watching friends go through pregnancy: one person ends up managing the apps, the appointments, the kick counts, the “is this normal?” googling—and the other person feels like a passenger. Most pregnancy apps are built for one user. The partner gets a notification, maybe, and that’s it. So I built a shared diary. Both of you add one photo or short video a day to the same timeline. You react and comment on each other’s moments. At the end, the photos become a time-lapse “bump movie.” Around that, I added the things that seemed to actually matter: NHS-based week-by-week guidance with links to source pages, plus a daily story both partners see. (I’m UK-based, so it’s NHS content; each item links back.) A real role for partners: daily tips for their stage, and push notifications for new moments, reactions, and name matches. Private daily check-ins (symptoms, sleep, water) that you can optionally share. Practical tools: hospital bag checklist, birth plan PDF export, a contraction timer shared live between both phones, and a baby names swipe deck that matches when you both like one. Privacy by default: no ads, no tracking, full JSON export, and a quiet mode for when a pregnancy doesn’t go to plan. It’s free to try. I’d genuinely love feedback—especially from couples who try it together for a week. What’s missing? What’s confusing? What would make your partner actually use it?
