I built a color-by-number app for people who just want to switch their brain off for a while

Wait 5 sec.

I've always liked the idea of coloring apps, but a lot of them started feeling more like mobile games than something relaxing — subscriptions, ads in the middle of coloring, streaks, rewards, constant popups. So I built Calma Color around a slightly different idea: coloring should just feel... calm. A few things I focused on: – soft ASMR sounds with every tap – background soundscapes like rain, ocean and campfire – three difficulty levels, from a quick ~5 minute page to much more detailed ones – a "find the last field" feature because hunting for that final microscopic area is definitely not relaxing 😅 – turning your own photos into coloring pages directly on the phone (this needs a little upgrades from my side ) – replaying your finished artwork as a video – one free artwork every day – works offline, no account required – no streaks or daily-pressure mechanics And probably the thing I personally care about most: No ads while you're coloring. There's a Premium option, but it's a one-time purchase rather than another subscription. I've been working on making the whole app feel less like a game trying to retain you and more like something you'd open in the evening with headphones on for 20 minutes. These are the App Store screenshots I made for it. And to be completely transparent: yes, I'm also trying to get more people to discover and download the app. 😅 But I'm genuinely interested in whether the idea and positioning make sense to people who haven't been staring at the project for months. Does the coloring + ASMR/soundscape combination make sense to you, or is it trying to do too much? If you'd like to try it: It's called Calma Color. iOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/calma-color-color-by-number/id6797218195 Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.calma.calma_color submitted by /u/mrK0z01 [link] [comments]
