Carvd Studio update: woodworking joinery and printable shop reports on macOS, Windows and Linux

Wait 5 sec.

I shared my desktop woodworking planner here about seven months ago. I’m the developer, and version 1.3 adds a substantial part of the workflow: planning cuts and joints, then taking their details into the workshop. The problem it tackles is the gap between a furniture model that looks right and the information you need to build it. The workflow is: lay out the parts in 3D, inspect joint geometry, generate a cut list, and export a PDF shop report. The new release includes custom cuts and joinery tools alongside the existing material and cut-list workflow. For a concrete example, I’ve published an oak-and-walnut cabinet design study with 29 parts, its editable project, and a downloadable report. You can inspect the output without buying the app. It’s a design study, not a shop-tested construction plan. It’s $99.99 one-time, with a 14-day trial: https://carvd-studio.com/download If you’re building software for a physical craft, one practical thing this project makes clear is that the printed output deserves as much attention as the on-screen model: part names, dimensions, and operation details have to remain useful away from the computer. submitted by /u/mdbaldwin95 to r/sideprojects [link] [comments]
