Upon arriving in London he was diagnosed with a superficial vein thrombosis. As part of his treatment he was advised to not sleep, and then played jn the football game as QB after not sleeping for 36 hours. Upon flying home he participated in a full practice on Wednesday. After practice he had another ultrasound on his calf that led to the team saying he wouldn’t be playing in their next game. On Saturday they announced he was going to be out for at least 4 games. Finally yesterday it was announced he is out for the season due to a DVT and bilateral pulmonary emboli. I am an RN and obviously am not qualified to diagnose and treat these conditions but to me this sounds like his health was put at great risk by the team physicians who allowed him to play in a game, fly home, and then fully participate in practice. Also I am really confused about him being advised not to sleep for 36 hours. I would really like to hear physician’s opinions regarding this. submitted by /u/notcompatible [link] [comments]
