The Catalan club are unhappy with the lack of security checks at the stadium entrance. During the match between Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, the French club’s ultras unveiled a highly controversial tifo at the start of the game in one of the stands at the Parc des Princes. The enormous banner, displayed in the ultras’ section, depicted a character wielding a chainsaw and destroying Barcelona’s crest. It was accompanied by the message “Parisian Massacre” and pyrotechnic effects simulating sparks. Several smaller banners bearing insults such as “Fuck Barça” were also displayed, some of which were removed during the match. Barcelona have announced that they will file a formal complaint with UEFA’s delegate, deeming the tifo aggressive and offensive. The incident has sparked widespread criticism, not only because of its violent and provocative content, but also because of questions over how it was allowed into the stadium in the first place, given the strict security checks enforced at football grounds in Spain. The situation is even more striking considering that PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Barcelona president Joan Laporta and UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin were all present in the VIP box. UEFA’s disciplinary body will decide what action, if any, to take over the offensive conduct of PSG’s most radical supporters. This was not the only incident during the match. Every PSG goal was followed by a barrage of flares, an item banned at all football stadiums in Spain but seemingly subject to fewer restrictions elsewhere in Europe. Such behaviour is not unusual at the Parc des Princes or among PSG supporters, whose ultras are considered one of the most dangerous hooligan groups in world football. submitted by /u/Maleficent-Choice254 [link] [comments]
