The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal until October 26, with Kerala, Karnataka and parts of Andhra Pradesh also likely to receive heavy rain. Chennai and neighbouring districts have declared school holidays on October 21 following heavy rainfall. A low-pressure area is expected to develop over the southwest Bay of Bengal, bringing further rain to southern India.
