I’m 19, making $30/hr in construction, but feeling lost. Should I switch to healthcare or pursue a trade apprenticeship?

Wait 5 sec.

I’m 19 and honestly feeling lost with my career path. I went from working as a sheet metal helper toward an apprenticeship to now working as a construction laborer making $30/hr. The money is better, but I’m tired of physically demanding work and don’t feel like I’m moving toward the future I want. I’m considering a hospital job paying $22/hr on night shifts, working three 12-hour shifts a week. I’d take a pay cut, but I’d have more days off for the gym and personal life, although I’m concerned about how night shifts could affect my sleep. Would you stay in construction, pursue a trade apprenticeship, take the hospital job, or consider another career? I’m looking for good pay, room to grow, less physical wear and tear, and work-life balance, preferably without a four-year degree. I’d appreciate any honest advice! submitted by /u/ynstacking [link] [comments]
