I send long voice notes. My friends don’t always want to listen to long voice notes. Fair enough. So, mostly for fun, I made Skip the Yap! It’s a small Chrome extension that turns voice notes into transcripts, cleaned-up text, or a quick TL;DR. Right now it works on Instagram DMs and Facebook Messenger. Just press the button beside a voice note. When it’s done, the result goes straight into the chat box and is also copied to your clipboard. I wanted something simple. The extension is free, with no ads, extension account, analytics, or mystery backend. I don’t collect or store anything. You bring your own API key, and only the voice note you select is sent directly to that provider. Your provider may charge for API usage, although I recommend starting with Gemini because it offers a free tier for supported models. The whole thing is open source. If you want to contribute, report something broken, or tell me I made something weird, please do. Hope you like it. My friends certainly needed it.
