3.0 of my solo-built audiobook app: the feature people asked for most was "don't lose my place when I fall asleep"

Wait 5 sec.

Hi! I'm the solo developer of Widdle Reader, an Android audiobook player for DRM-free files you already own (MP3, M4B, FLAC, OPUS and more). Version 3.0 is its biggest update. The main change is the sleep timer: 5 minutes to 2 hours, a custom time, +5/+15 minutes while it runs, or end of chapter. You can shake the phone to restart it. If you shake within 2 minutes of the timer pausing, the book resumes too. It's tuned so rolling over in bed doesn't count. The other 3.0 changes: • A night sky with moon and stars behind the library and player. It can run with the sleep timer, during night hours you choose, or always. The library says good night after dark. • Home-screen widgets with the cover, chapter, time left and live sleep-timer countdown, plus ±15-second and play controls that work with the app closed. • Gapless chapters and exact resume, including when pausing from a headset, the notification or Android Auto. It still has EPUB/PDF read-along one swipe from the player, 0.5–3× speed, Android Auto, streaks and stats, and confetti when you finish a book. It's $1.99, with no ads, subscription or account. It can't play Audible or Libby downloads. I'll put the Play Store link in the first comment. What should 3.1 have? submitted by /u/widdle_studios [link] [comments]
