Khvicha Kvaratskhelia vowed to come back stronger for Paris Saint-Germain after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury against Barcelona on Tuesday. It was confirmed by PSG that Kvaratskhelia would undergo surgery to repair the issue, which he suffered in their 4-2 victory over the LaLiga giants in the Champions League. Kvaratskhelia had to be helped off the field when he was withdrawn in the 59th minute following a challenge with Xavi Espart, with the Georgia international not expected to play again this season. The 25-year-old's injury comes as a huge blow for PSG, who are expected to be without Ousmane Dembele and Marquinhos after the pair also suffered injuries against Barcelona. Nuno Mendes was another notable absentee from their midweek win at the Parc des Princes. In a social media post on Wednesday, Kvaratskhelia thanked the PSG fans for their support and said he would not "waste a second" during his lengthy recovery journey. "Many people asked me about this stand; many said that if all the footballers in the world prayed, the game would end in a draw," Kvaratskhelia said."This could be true, but before every game I play, I ask God to leave the field healthy, but in vain. It hasn't been a long time, but it's still on my mind – why me anyway?"I have never missed anything; probably I prepared for this game, the best I have ever prepared for. I thought I was prepared for everything, but not, and I realise that God chose me and if I protected the players on another field, I'm ready to go through these months in labour, pain, tears."I know I have to come back stronger for my people who always have my back. I won't let you down. I promise I won't waste a second. Thank you all for your support. See you soon." In his 91 appearances across all competitions for the Parisiens, Kvaratskhelia has recorded 47 goal involvements (29 goals, 18 assists). He has won nine major honours in the French capital, including two Champions League crowns, scoring in their 5-0 thrashing of Inter in the 2024-25 showpiece match. Cristiano Ronaldo was one of several players to send words of support to Kvaratskhelia. "The hardest battles in football are often the ones nobody sees. I know that feeling, Kvara," Ronaldo's comment on Kvaratskhelia's post began. "But never forget what brought you this far, and don't let a difficult moment make you doubt how far you can go. Keep that fire on. Your best is still to come."The post Kvaratskhelia vows to come back stronger as Ronaldo leads tributes to PSG star appeared first on SoccerNews.
