Arsenal produced a confident, well-structured performance at the Emirates this afternoon, beating Everton 2-0 to move level on points with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League. And what a difference an early goal makes! After predicting a 2-0 victory in this morning’s match preview, I was delighted to see the Gunners come flying out of the blocks.Konsa Strikes Early as Arsenal Take ControlIt took just seven minutes for Arsenal to break the deadlock. Gabriel’s header from a corner struck the crossbar, and Ezri Konsa was there to capitalise on Everton’s failure to clear, scoring his first Arsenal goal. The Gunners looked sharp, organised and in control, with Noni Madueke particularly lively on the right in Bukayo Saka’s absence.Madueke twice went close around the half-hour mark, while Martin Ødegaard was heavily involved as Arsenal continued to press forward. There were corners galore, but Everton weren’t completely without danger.David Raya had to rescue Arsenal just before half-time following a Ben White error, producing an important save to preserve our advantage.Nevertheless, Arsenal went into the break deservedly leading 1-0, having played some excellent football.(Photo by Alex Pantling/Getty Images)Gabriel Seals the Points as Arsenal Keep PushingThe second half brought a few nervous moments.Everton threatened immediately after the restart, forcing Raya into action again, while Ødegaard tested Jordan Pickford at the other end. There was also concern when Gabriel went down requiring medical attention in the 55th minute. Thankfully, he was able to continue.Arteta made three changes midway through the half, introducing Bruno Guimarães, Riccardo Calafiori and Kai Havertz. Then came the moment that effectively sealed the victory. In the 69th minute, Gabriel rose to meet a superb Ben White cross, powering his header home to make it 2-0!A wonderful goal from our Brazilian defender, and a fitting reward for Arsenal’s performance.Max Dowman and Martín Zubimendi were introduced for the closing stages, although Zubimendi picked up a knock shortly afterwards.Raya was called upon again late on, but Arsenal saw out the eight minutes of added time to secure another clean sheet. It was a thoroughly deserved victory, with both centre-backs on the scoresheet and Arsenal looking composed, disciplined and dangerous throughout.Dan questioned whether Arsenal needed to start matches faster. Today, they certainly answered that question!Three more points, another clean sheet and we’re right alongside City in the title race. What did you make of Arsenal’s performance today, Gooners? Was this the kind of attacking football you’ve been wanting to see? It certainly was for me.Join the discussion in the comments below._____________________________________________________________________________________________ADMIN COMMENTSo here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow….You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans.
