Hello everyone! After getting caught up in the property search ourselves, trying to find something cheap and good value in rural Spain, both in person and online, we noticed that it is really hard to pull together all the necessary information about a specific site. And most importantly, lots of property visits could have been avoided if we had had the right information at hand already. With me working in the geospatial field as a researcher, her being an incredible designer, and this project actually solving one of our own problems, we thought this would be a fantastic side project for us! So here comes ruralcheck.eu, a super affordable way to analyze most properties in Europe interactively and also to search regions for specific criteria. What’s key here is that it pulls together almost 50 geospatial layers and simulations, as well as other statistics about the region, with more to come. There is also a 3D viewer (into which a lot of work went...) where you can interactively look at the site throughout the day and the seasons, with realistic colors and weather derived from remote sensing. Unlike the usual “report about some property” setup that costs €20 each, each user can analyze unlimited sites within the subscription, or even for free if they can live without the fancy analysis. So I would consider this comparatively affordable :) The site only just launched, so... I hope it’s not too slow.
