I built a travel eSIM around a balance you keep using across trips

Wait 5 sec.

Hey everyone, I'm Mantas, the founder of NXTL, based in Vilnius, Lithuania. The idea behind it is pretty simple. When you're buying data for a trip, you're often choosing between 3 GB, 10 GB, 20 GB, etc. before you really know how much you'll need. You buy a bigger package to be safe, use some of it, then the rest expires. Next trip, you're choosing and paying again. I wanted to offer a way to keep some balance ready and use it whenever you travel. With NXTL, you install one reusable eSIM, add balance, and pay for the data you actually use in supported countries. If you use 300 MB, that's what gets charged. The remaining balance stays available for another trip while your account remains active. There's no monthly subscription. The video shows the app. You can check country and network rates, estimate what your usage would cost, and see individual data charges in your balance history. We have both Android and iOS apps, and you can manage things through the website too. One thing I've spent a lot of time on is making the costs understandable. Different networks in the same country can have different rates, so showing someone a single headline price doesn't tell them everything. There are tradeoffs, of course. If you're going somewhere for a month and using loads of data, a local SIM or a large bundle might be a better deal. I think this approach is particularly useful for shorter trips, travelling between countries, or keeping a backup connection available. It's data-only, so it doesn't give you a local phone number. You also need a compatible, unlocked device. There's an initial eSIM purchase with credit included, then you top up when needed. I'm personally involved in the development and customer support, so I get to hear quite directly when something is confusing or doesn't work as expected 😅 Would appreciate your thoughts, especially on whether the idea and the app screens make sense at first glance. What would you want to know before trusting a smaller provider with your connection abroad? https://nxtlsim.com submitted by /u/nxtlmobileio [link] [comments]
