Caitlin Clark fans slam Angel Reese for issuing profane taunt and gesture to Valkyries in WNBA Finals

Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream are just two wins away from securing their first ever WNBA championship. In front of a sold-out crowd at the 17,000-seat State Farm Arena, the Dream comfortably defeated the Golden State Valkyries 97-71 to take a 2-1 series lead in a best of seven. Angel Reese took over Game 3 to give the Dream a 2-1 lead in the best of seven seriesGettyThree-time WNBA All-Star Reese once again controlled the game – just as she did in Game 2 when she became the youngest player in league history to record at least 30 points and 15 rebounds in a Finals game. On Wednesday night, she finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds – both a game-high – and she also had three assists and three steals in the win. This was another historic feat for the 2026 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year as she became the first player in league history to record a double-double in her first three Finals games. “It feels good when you’re in the Finals,” Reese said postgame. “It’s a long season and you play against everybody and go through and push through, but when you can do it at the highest level, this is what you live for, this is what the offseason is for.“I put the work in for this moment and I’m just happy I could lead the team to a win. We’re feeling good going into Saturday.”Despite being the best player on the floor, Reese was caught by the cameras on several occasions giving some smack talk to her opponents. Then, in the latter stages of the fourth quarter, with the Dream having already all but secured victory, Reese could be seen taunting the Valkyries with the ‘too small’ gesture from the bench. Reese is in a league of her own right now as she recorded her third straight double-double in the FinalsGettyReese was seen taunting her opponents on several occasions throughout the gameGettyShe could also be seen shouting, “You a bum. You a bum. You’re too small,” before she gave out a huge grin. Some fans did not appreciate the trash talkThis particular gesture did not appear to go down well with the court of public opinion – social media – who just so happened to bring up Reese’s ‘rival’ Caitlin Clark when dishing out their criticizm of the star forward. “One of the trashiest players you will ever see!! but she’s celebrated for this, but let Caitlin Clark do something on sportsman like like this,” one fan posted to X. “Caitlin got a tech just for saying look at the score board,” another user commented. But Reese’s fans were quick to jump to her defense, with one fan firing back with, “I can’t wait for her to win this championship, you haters will be sick….let’s go Dream. AR”“YALL IN YOUR FEELINGS REAL BAD, CAUSE THIS GIRL OUT HERE SHINING LIKE A DIAMOND,” a second added. One thing is for sure – Reese has the chance to claim a WNBA championship before Clark and the Indiana Fever, and with the way she is playing, should the Dream go on to get the two wins they need, she could well have a WNBA Finals MVP to her name too.
