Three-time Group 1 winner Al Riffa (Wootton Bassett) and G2 Prix Eugene Adam hero My Prospero (Iffraaj) have joined the burgeoning roster at Capital Stud for the 2027 breeding season. Stud fees for both stallions will be announced in due course.Trained by Joseph O'Brien, Al Riffa won five of his 21 races and ran in nine different countries, with his career earnings exceeding $1.8 million. He made the breakthrough at the top level when winning the 2022 National Stakes at the Curragh as a two-year-old, with his other Group 1 triumphs coming later in the 2024 Grosser Preis von Berlin at Hoppegarten and last year's Irish St. Leger back at the Curragh.Initially owned by the Al Riffa Syndicate and later in partnership with Masaaki Matsushima, Al Riffa was purchased by Australian Bloodstock in the aftermath of his Irish St. Leger success and went on to finish seventh when burdened with top weight in that year's Melbourne Cup. The son of Wootton Bassett was last seen finishing third when trying to win July's G2 Curragh Cup for the second consecutive year.Bought by O'Brien for 150,000gns at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Al Riffa is out of the unraced Galileo mare Love On My Mind, a full-sister to the dual G3 Sagaro Stakes hero Mizzou. Listed winner Moments Of Joy (Darshaan), the dam of Love On My Mind and Mizzou, is herself out of the G1 Yorkshire Oaks and G1 Prix Vermeille heroine My Emma (Marju), a half-sister to the G1 St Leger and G1 Gold Cup-winning sire Classic Cliche.“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Al Riffa to Capital Stud,” said the County Kilkenny operation's Ger O'Neill. “Horses with his profile are incredibly difficult to find – he had the speed to win a National Stakes at two, the class to compete with the very best middle-distance horses in Europe and ultimately the stamina to win an Irish St Leger in such impressive fashion.”My Prospero, meanwhile, joins Capital Stud following two seasons at Haras des Faunes in France where he commanded a fee of €3,000. The son of Iffraaj will stand in partnership with his owner and breeder, Mrs Tsui.A five-time winner for the William Haggas stable, My Prospero enjoyed his finest hour as a three-year-old when winning the Prix Eugene Adam at Saint-Cloud, with his other top-class efforts in 2022 including third-place finishes at Ascot in both the G1 St James's Palace Stakes and G1 Champion Stakes. At four, he won the Listed Foundation Stakes at Goodwood and filled the runner-up spot in the G2 York Stakes, before adding the G3 Winter Hill Stakes at Windsor to his tally at five.My Prospero is one of five winners out of the G3 C.L. Weld Park Stakes heroine My Titania (Sea The Stars), with the others including his fellow black-type winners My Oberon (Dubawi) and My Astra (Lope De Vega), both of whom were also placed at the top level.A Night Of Thunder colt out of My Astra recently sold to Godolphin for 4.6 million gns at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, becoming the most expensive yearling colt ever sold in Europe. At the same sale, a Too Darn Hot half-brother to My Prospero realised 625,000gns when purchased by Rabbah Bloodstock.O'Neill added, “We are delighted to welcome My Prospero to Capital Stud and very grateful to Mrs Tsui for the opportunity to stand such a high-class horse in partnership with her. He is a very exciting addition to our roster.”Both stallions will be available for inspection at Capital Stud ahead of the 2027 breeding season. The post Capital Stud Roster Bolstered by Arrival of Al Riffa and My Prospero for 2027 appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
