Most After Effects MCP servers expose one tool that matters: run_script(anything). The model writes ExtendScript, the server evals it, and an error-free return counts as success. Nothing checks the script before it runs, nothing verifies the result after, and undo restores the whole project. extynt takes the other approach: no script tool at all. Architecture 83 typed operations covering effects, layers, text, keyframes and expressions. The model composes a plan from them. Anything outside the set is refused with a reason. Preflight against the live project. Every target in a plan is resolved against the open project before execution. A missing layer, a project that changed since approval, or a plan edited after approval stops it. Read-back verification. After execution, values are read back from AE and returned as a receipt per operation. If an expression is holding a property, the receipt says FAILED with that reason instead of reporting success. One undo group per plan, not per change and not the whole project. Real effect names. The harness enumerates every installed effect, native and third-party, so plans target the match names your machine actually has instead of ones the model guessed. Expressions are the only code the model writes. Capped at 65,536 characters and shown in the plan before anything runs. Build-aware. An operation not yet verified on your AE build asks before it runs. Apply and verify in about 30 ms (M4 Pro, AE 26.2.1). MCP surface 35 tools. The plan lifecycle is ae_propose_plan → ae_approve_plan → ae_get_receipt, with ae_amend_plan and ae_undo_plan. Read-side tools include ae_inspect_composition, ae_list_effects_and_expressions, ae_trace_dependencies and ae_list_project_issues. New capabilities ship as operation types inside ae_propose_plan rather than new tools, so the surface stays stable as the operation set grows. The chat panel and MCP clients go through the same plan, check and undo path. Works with Claude, Codex, or any MCP client. Bring your own model, including local ones.
