I attended the University of Wyoming College of Law from 2021 to 2024. I took Criminal Procedure and Criminal Adjudication with Professor Darrell D. Jackson and earned A's in both courses. My criticism is not motivated by dissatisfaction with my grades. During law school, I experienced repeated incidents of unwanted, personally invasive questioning, sexualized humiliation, and insinuations of criminal or sexual misconduct. People repeatedly questioned me in law-school settings, including in front of other students, and continued even after I expressly told them to stop and leave me alone. Jackson was present during some of these incidents. I remember him laughing during at least one encounter. I also remember another professor telling Jackson to stop during a separate interaction. One incident that particularly disturbed me occurred during a JAG recruiting event in January 2024. While I was speaking with JAG recruiters, Jackson stood behind me and shook his head toward them. I remember one of the recruiters remarking that he had "never seen that before." I interpreted Jackson's head-shaking as a signal discouraging the recruiters from considering me professionally. I cannot establish that this was his intention, but that is how I experienced the interaction. I found it profoundly inappropriate for a professor to behave that way while I was speaking with potential military legal employers, particularly against the background of the other treatment I had experienced at the school. Another incident involved my personal laptop. During my third year, two classmates approached me and told me that Jackson was going through my things. I went to the classroom and looked through the window in the door. I personally observed Jackson bent over my unlocked laptop, manipulating its keyboard or touchpad. I had not given him permission to use my computer. I do not know what files or information, if any, he accessed. On September 8, 2026, I reported this incident to the University of Wyoming Police Department. The university's public Daily Activities Report documents case 26-0527, a reported computer-crime incident at the Law Building. The detective subsequently informed me that Jackson denied accessing my laptop and that the two people interviewed did not recall the incident. The investigation was closed without criminal referral. I am not representing that investigators established criminal wrongdoing. I nevertheless maintain my account of what I personally witnessed. Throughout my time at Wyoming, I experienced conduct that made me feel humiliated, intimidated, and unsafe. Jackson's behavior during the incidents I have described contributed to those experiences. What concerns me most is that these events occurred in a professional educational environment where I should have been able to study, communicate with potential employers, and leave my personal belongings without experiencing this treatment. I remain concerned about retaliation for discussing my experiences publicly. Nevertheless, I believe prospective students deserve to know what I experienced. I would not recommend Professor Jackson based on my experiences with him. submitted by /u/PlainMosaic41 to r/lawschooladmissions [link] [comments]
