Processing img 9p59mfig17xh1... Hi Dev's, I’m working on CONPLAN Z, a zombie base-building survival game in Unity. Top is the old army truck, bottom is the new one. The old truck was a single flat side-view sprite, so it could only ever drive left or right. I wanted trucks that can turn and drive in any direction. I did it without Blender, so the whole pipeline is code. I modelled the truck as a 3D model in C#, wrote a small software renderer as an editor tool, and baked the result into sprites. The look stays flat colours with dark outlines to match the rest of the game. Details: 32 viewing directions, one sprite each The wheels are a separate layer baked in 4 phases, so they spin according to how far the truck has rolled I’m also adding a roof machine gun as its own layer, so trucks can be drawn with or without it It’s coming in the next update. Two questions for you: Does the new one still fit a 2D comic style, or does the 3D origin show? Has anyone done a similar bake-to-sprites pipeline and found a good way to handle animated parts like wheels? submitted by /u/CONPLAN_Z to r/SoloDevelopment [link] [comments]
