Case Study: MACD vs RSI vs Bollinger BandsDelixy Holdings Limited Class ABATS:DLXYrebelgrizzaliThis retrospective technical analysis examines three widely used indicators—Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD), Relative Strength Index (RSI), and Bollinger Bands—to evaluate potential bullish signals and hypothetical entry opportunities in Delixy Holdings Limited (NASDAQ: DLXY). Historical Reference: On June 5, 2026, Project Sabrina (an investment newsletter) identified DLXY as a potential breakout stock. DLXY closed at $2.48 per share that day. On September 16, 2026, the stock subsequently reached an intraday high of $22.25, representing approximately 797% maximum hypothetical price appreciation from the June 5 closing price. The stock also experienced significant interim volatility, including a subsequent closing low of $1.75 on August 28. In this study, we compared three different indicators (MACD, RSI and Bollinger Bands) with common uses for all three indicators highlighted, studying which indicator yielded the finest potential gain, using the intraday high on September 16 as the high mark. Of note, the use of indicators was evaluated five days before Project Sabrina's June 5 identification date of DLXY, to a few months after. MACD — June 3, 2026: A bullish MACD signal-line crossover occurred on June 3, two calendar days before Project Sabrina's June 5 identification date of DLXY. This crossover potentially suggested improving short-term price momentum relative to the underlying signal line. Using the June 5 closing price of $2.48 as the reference price and the September 16 intraday high of $22.25, the maximum subsequent hypothetical price appreciation was approximately 797%. The June 5 price is used as the historical reference point, not as the execution price of a trade initiated on June 3. RSI — June 10, 2026: On June 10, RSI crossed above the 50 threshold, a commonly monitored technical development that may indicate strengthening bullish momentum. DLXY closed at $3.10 on June 10. Measured against the September 16 intraday high of $22.25, this represents approximately 618% maximum subsequent hypothetical price appreciation. Bollinger Bands (Upper Band Break) — June 9, 2026: On June 9, DLXY's price moved above its upper Bollinger Band, indicating a potential bullish momentum breakout. The stock's closing price on that date was $2.49. Using the September 16 intraday high of $22.25, the maximum subsequent hypothetical price appreciation was approximately 794%. Bollinger Bands (Lower Band Breach) — July 28, 2026: On July 28, DLXY breached its lower Bollinger Band, suggesting a possible mean-reversion setup following downward price movement. The historical reference price was approximately $1.88. Measured against the September 16 intraday high of $22.25, the maximum subsequent hypothetical price appreciation was approximately 1,084%. Conclusion & Discussion: Of course, all four indicators (and their proposed uses) won the trade. However, the strategy that ultimately yielded the finest gain opportunity was Bollinger Bands, specifically the lower band breach strategy. Project Sabrina notes that it identifies stocks that carry breakout potential over the next 12 months. In this case, DLXY had a major breakthrough shortly after the June 5 identification date - but amongst the indicators applied, the lower breach of a Bollinger Band not only elicited the finest potential gain, but also presented an entry price ($1.88) that was quite close to DLXY’s lowest price per share point between June 5 and September 16 which was $1.75. It is also worth nothing that the lower Bollinger Band breach strategy also elicited the latest purchase date, in comparison to the other strategies - giving potential investors the quickest return in comparison to the buy-signal dates the other indicator strategies elicited. We like to do these case studies periodically on identified stocks - we would love to hear in the discussion any indicators we should consider in the future for evaluation - as well as whether you would have used any of these indicators differently compared to how we utilized them. Feel free to also contribute any indicator that would have given a finer buy-signal on this stock and its proposed purchase period (June 5 to September 16).
