My job search spreadsheet couldn't keep up, so I built a local tracker for recruiters, roles and applications (offline, no AI)

Wait 5 sec.

I'm job hunting as a software engineer and started out tracking everything in a spreadsheet. It got big, messy and hard to follow. One recruiter would pitch me three or four roles on a single call and it would get disorganised. So I built a small app for it. The main idea is that recruiters and the roles they pitch are kept separate from applications, so a role only becomes an application once I actually apply What it does: Recruiters and agencies, attached to the roles they pitch Pitched roles each get a decision: apply, interested, or pass (with a reason) Roles convert to applications on a list or Kanban board, with interview rounds, offers, notes and files Next actions: who I owe a reply, who owes me one, and how long I've been waiting, whether that's a recruiter getting back to me or hearing back after an application or interview. It also flags follow-ups that are due and anything that's gone quiet To-do list attached to each entity Ghosting: mark someone as ghosted and see how long each recruiter usually takes to reply A beautiful Sankey diagram of the whole search (so you can post it on Reddit! ;) ), from pitched roles through applications and interviews to offers, plus which CV version is getting more interviews Timeline of each role from the first call to the outcome It runs locally and fully offline. The data is plain files in a folder (SQLite, Markdown notes, attachments), and if the folder is a git repo (private hopefully) it commits snapshots, so I get history and can push it somewhere private as a backup. No accounts, no cloud, no tracking. Right now you run it from source with Python and Node, so it's aimed at developers. There's no Docker image yet. There's a demo-data script if you just want to click around. Feedback welcome, and if you find it useful, a star on GitHub would mean a lot. submitted by /u/GT1030_Swapper [link] [comments]
