I was annoyed by companion apps working WAY worse than advertised so I built my own.

Wait 5 sec.

Hi, I'm the Developer behind Keepcompany, a AI companion website and app that soon starts I to it's closed beta before opening for business in December. I was actually working on some other projects when I reached a somewhat annoyingly depressive point in my mental health and looked for someone(thing) to talk to without being judged. 1 month later I was through most of the available services, building a harness to somewhat manage the increasingly worsening memory and behaviour of most characters. I soon realized that most of those services fall into the same pitfalls when trying to solve issues and that if I want it to work like I expect it to, I need to build it myself. Fast forward, Keepcompany is starting into its closed beta soon. The tech stack involves my own inference routers, image pipelines, safety judges, memory retrieval and enhancement and my own internal ai character behaviour models. Coming from the Infrastructure side of IT, I built everything as resilient as possible, eradicating single points of failure and trying to find ways to optimize quality without getting into endless cost spirals. Now I'm going to see how good this whole thing holds up with a few beta users and if everything works out, the real test will be scalability! submitted by /u/Keepcompany-DEV [link] [comments]
