Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi has provided an update on the fitness of his players ahead of this weekend’s clash with Chelsea. After securing their first win of the season in their last outing against Coventry City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Spurs now turn their attention to the London derby against bitter rivals Chelsea. It will be a daunting challenge for Roberto De Zerbi and his side, who are aiming to secure their second victory of the season and their first consecutive win of the campaign. While Tottenham managed a 2-1 friendly win back in August when the two sides met in Australia for the first time in their history, Spurs’ record in competitive fixtures against Chelsea has been far less encouraging.Credit: @thefrederikkejensen / InstagramRoberto De Zerbi provides Tottenham injury update ahead of Chelsea clashAhead of Saturday’s encounter, De Zerbi has offered an injury update on his Tottenham squad. The Spurs boss still has several absentees to contend with, despite welcoming James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski back against Coventry.Maddison earned his first Spurs start since April 2025 after a series of injuries hindered his involvement, while Kulusevski made his return after over 500 days out following a knee injury sustained in 2025.However, the victory over Coventry did not come without concerns, with Andy Robertson, Tosin Adarabioyo and Omar Marmoush all going off after picking up issues.De Zerbi has since confirmed that none of the trio suffered serious issues. Marmoush has already been spotted back in training alongside Pedro Porro, who is set to return this weekend. That still leaves Mykhailo Mudryk, Wilson Odobert, Xavi Simons and Destiny Udogie sidelined with injuries, with Udogie continuing to nurse a knee problem. Meanwhile, Savio and Lucas Bergvall remain sidelined.Speaking to football.london, De Zerbi provided the latest update on his squad: “Pedro is back. Robertson is available. Marmoush is good. Solanke is good. Lucas Bergvall, Savio out, nothing more. Bentancur suspended.”The bigger concern is that James Maddison is a doubt for the match, the manager added: “In the first three days Maddison didn’t work with us. I don’t know if he is available for tomorrow. We can play with Tel, with Marmoush, with Gallagher. “Like I said many times, I don’t want to take risk because if you analyse this period of European football, you can see many, many injuries and not for Tottenham but everyone. Kulusevski worked well but in the first days stayed individual. The post Roberto De Zerbi gives Tottenham injury update ahead of Chelsea derby clash – Maddison doubt appeared first on Spurs Web.
