Joe Cordina has agreed terms to face Manny Pacquiao, likely on the Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua undercard. That’s according to Cordina’s promoter Eddie Hearn, who has said his side has agreed to the bout, just days after the 34-year-old Welsh former world champion was cleared of assault.Welsh star Cordina hasn’t fought since defeating Flores Jr in California last DecemberGettyCordina faced two charges of assault by beating, which he pleaded not guilty to, and was found not guilty of assaulting Jamie O’Brien, whom he punched outside of a petrol station in February. This led to Cordina being denied a US visa for his scheduled return in July against WBO lightweight king Abdullah Mason, having not fought since outpointing Gabriel Flores Jr in December 2025.However, the two-time IBF super featherweight champion could now be on the brink of a blockbuster bout on home soil.Hearn confirms Cordina has agreed to face Pacquiao“We’ve agreed terms to fight Manny Pacquiao,” Hearn told members of the media at the Dalton Smith vs Alberto Puello press conference in Sheffield on Thursday.“But we don’t know if that’s happening. From our side, we’ve agreed to do it.”Pacquiao’s next fight has been a hot topic ever since the 47-year-old legend returned to action in July 2025.The Filipino sent shockwaves through the boxing world with an epic performance in a draw against Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title.Reports suggested Pacquiao was being eyed to face Shakur Stevenson on the undercard of Fury vs Joshua, which takes place at the Principality Stadium in Wales on December 11.However, that fight never materialised, with Stevenson leaving Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing roster this week over a pay dispute. This left event organisers Sela scrambling to find a suitable opponent for Pacquiao, who has been rumoured to contest his 74th bout on the Cardiff bill.Pacquiao fought out a thrilling draw with Barrios over 12 rounds in Las Vegas and is expected to make his boxing return soonGettyBoth Sela and broadcaster Netflix are reportedly keen to have Pacquiao on the Fury vs Joshua card due to his reach in the US and Asian markets.Former world champions Danny Garcia and Amir Khan have also been proposed as possible opponents, although the latter has suggested a fight with Pacquiao taking place in Cardiff was just a rumour.Earlier this month, Hearn then threw Cordina’s name into the mix for Pacquiao’s first fight on British soil.He told BoxingScene that the Welsh native was pitched to Sela, as well as other Matchroom fighters.“It’s [my] understanding there’s some kind of agreement between Manny Pacquiao and Sela,” Hearn said.“Not for a Shakur Stevenson fight. I mean, Dana White said that’s not happening.Hearn wants Cordina to have a homecoming return fight on the undercard of Fury vs AJ and has agreed for his man to face PacquiaoGetty“We’ve put forward to Sela, Joe Cordina against Abdullah Mason.“I also said to Turki [Alalshikh] last night, if you need an opponent for Manny Pacquiao, we’ve got Jack Catterall, Conor Walker, Lewis Crocker and Joe Cordina…“I want Joe on the card because he’s a two-time world champion from Wales.“And if he fights Abdullah Mason or Manny Pacquiao, that’s a great fight or Sam Noakes for a vacant title.”Cordina would likely need to move up from lightweight to welterweight should Pacquiao accept.Watch Boxing on DAZN*If you click a link in this boxout, we will earn affiliate revenueSign up to DAZN to access the definitive subscription for boxing fans.Upgrade to DAZN Ultimate from just £24.99/month, guaranteeing access to 185+ fights annually, a minimum of 12 pay-per-views at no extra cost, as well as every Lega Serie A match and other elite football access.Alternatively, DAZN Standard is just £15.99/month, with the caveat you will have to pay for pay-per-view events.Click here to sign up.
