Truck driver allegedly ignores multiple warnings to park his truck on a private property. Then he realizes what the parking actually costs

Wait 5 sec.

A truck driver kept parking his semi-truck on a family’s pecan grove despite repeated warnings to stay off the private property. The story was shared on Reddit by u/TboneXXIV, whose parents owned the grove. They claimed that the truck driver lived across the road from the property. With neatly spaced trees, short grass, and flat ground, the grove apparently looked like a convenient place to pull over a large vehicle. However, the smooth terrain served an important purpose for the family’s pecan harvesting operation. According to the post, mechanical harvesting equipment relies on relatively even ground to collect pecans efficiently. A truck leaving deep grooves in the soil could cause the machines to miss thousands of dollars’ worth of pecans, forcing the family to collect them by hand. After the driver first parked there, the landowner allegedly confronted him over the parking spot, explaining the damage and warning him not to return. “Dude, we’ll call him. Dude agrees, apologizes. Dad goes home, fixes damage midweek,” the user claimed. He gets a huge fine The following week, the truck was apparently back in the same spot, prompting the landowner to allegedly call the sheriff’s department. Deputies arrived, and the driver moved his vehicle, but the family reportedly had to repair the damaged ground once again. You can't park there. Ok, you can, but it will cost you. byu/TboneXXIV inMaliciousCompliance The pattern continued for weeks. The driver reportedly told deputies that he had forgotten he was not allowed to park there, despite having been warned previously. The user claimed that “After 7 times the sheriff’s department is called, he FINALLY gets a trespassing citation,” although there was no fine. By then, the landowner had repeatedly repaired the ground and even kept a tractor and blade on the property to make the work easier. The next call to the sheriff’s department apparently brought the “sheriff himself” to deal with the issue. The dad reportedly explained that proving the damage in court could be difficult because photographs did not clearly show the harm and the driver suspiciously always moved the truck when officers arrived. “But if there were something different, like a theft of services going on…” the sheriff reportedly suggested. The landowner apparently responded by putting up signs on “80 trees in a row (8000 feet; they are 100 feet apart)” declaring, “Semi parking. $500/hour. Prepay. Violators will be towed.” The driver allegedly ignored the signs and returned to park in the grove. This time, however, the landowner documented the situation, including photographs showing the truck parked beside the notices, and called a tow truck. The sheriff also reportedly drove past and took pictures before the vehicle was removed. The situation changed when the driver’s employer, who owned the truck, reportedly arrived at the property. After around three hours, the employer purportedly wrote a check for $7,800 to cover the hefty parking fines and towing fees. According to the post, the payment also covered the repairs and the cost of printing the signs. The author added that the employer allegedly deducted the cost from the driver’s paychecks over the following two years, bringing an end to the parking dispute.
