Keeneland concluded its 17-day Fall Meet with all-sources wagering handle of $185,602,369 and on-track handle totaling $15,475,463, the organization said in a release on Saturday. The year prior, the same meet's all-sources wagering reached a record $217,266,759 (a 3.38% increase) and the on-track wagering hit $17,239,420.Keeneland said in the press release that the 2026 October meet experienced significantly more rainfall that impacted turf racing and field sizes, while event infrastructure in place for the upcoming Breeders' Cup World Championships reduced general admission capacity.“Last year's record wagering was helped by favorable weather and multiple-day carryovers in some of our most popular wagers, setting a high bar for this Fall Meet,” Keeneland Vice President of Racing Gatewood Bell said. “Every meet has its own set of circumstances, and while this year looked a little different, we're pleased with the quality of racing we put on and the horses and horsemen who made it special. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for the Breeders' Cup World Championships.”As for the race for leading jockey and trainer, those contests came down to the final races on the closing-day card. With 22 victories, Tyler Gaffalione earned his ninth title as leading jockey of a Keeneland meet. He had two three-win days with stakes victories in the GI Darley Alcibiades Stakes, in the GII Castle & Key Bourbon Stakes and in the GIII Perryville Stakes.Following Gaffalione with 21 wins was Luis Saez, who was followed by Jose Ortiz, Irad Ortiz Jr. Flavien Prat and John Velazquez. On closing day, Velazquez won three races.Steve Asmussen sent out 12 winners for his fourth leading trainer title and his first since the 2015 Fall Meet. He finished one victory ahead of Brendan Walsh, who was followed by Wesley Ward, Joe Sharp, Kenny McPeek and Mike Maker.Among owners, Seth Klarman's Klaravich Stables and Joel Politi tied for the title with three wins apiece. The post Keeneland Wraps Fall Meet, Gaffalione And Asmussen Title Holders appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
