CopyDown, a free Mac app that collects everything you copy and pastes it all at once (my first App Store launch)

Wait 5 sec.

I'm the developer. I just shipped my first Mac app and wanted to share it and what I learned. **What it is:** CopyDown is a menu-bar app. Turn on capture mode, copy like you normally do, and every copy (text or screenshot) collects into a group. Then paste the whole group once — as a clean list, or straight into a spreadsheet as a real table. **Why I built it:** writing papers and tracking job applications meant hundreds of copy → switch app → paste → switch back loops. **Features** • 9 separate groups (one per project) • Table mode → pastes into Sheets/Excel/Numbers as rows and columns • Screenshots of any area, pasted in order with your text • Notes on any item • Every shortcut customizable (the defaults override a few Finder ⌥⌘ shortcuts, like ⌥⌘C "Copy as Pathname"; every CopyDown shortcut can be changed or removed in Settings) **Stack / approach:** native Swift + SwiftUI, sandboxed, no network code at all — no account, no analytics, nothing leaves the Mac. **What I learned launching:** Apple rejected it twice before approval — once asking for a demo video and info, once because a button said "Enable…" before the system permission prompt (it has to say "Continue"). Privacy is a feature you can actually sell: "no network access" ended up being one of my main selling points. Week 1 with zero promotion: a handful of downloads, but ~30% of people who view the page download it — so now the job is getting it in front of people. **Price:** free · macOS 4+ **Mac App Store:** https://apps.apple.com/us/app/copydown/id6818316448 Feedback very welcome, especially on the onboarding and what you'd add next. submitted by /u/IntelligentCounty85 [link] [comments]
