Keeneland's Raven Run and Dowager provide five of last week's top six:6–FIONN, KEE, 10/18-7th, Dowager Stakes (Gr. III), 1 1/2mTBeyer Speed Figure–90 (2nd) (video)(f, 4, Twirling Candy–Gaelic Gold, by Giant's Causeway)O-George Messina and Michael Lee. B-Dixiana Farm (Ky). T-Brad Cox. J-Irad Ortiz Jr.As a 3-year-old, Fionn racked up six wins including a Grade I in the Belmont Oaks on turf over Nitrogen. She has yet to duplicate that success at four, but this was a solid runner-up effort from well back despite the disadvantage of a very slow pace. Her winless dam is out of a half-sister to three SWs and Kentucky stallion Beau Liam.5–ARMY'S MARAUDER, KEE, 10/17-9th, Raven Run Stakes (Gr. II), 7fBeyer Speed Figure–91 (3rd) (video)(f, 3, Army Mule–Violate, by Broken Vow)O-Marauder Racing. B-Bo Hirsch (Ky). T-Christopher Davis. J-Luis Saez. She was disregarded at 27-1 last month when she took a Churchill maiden special weight with a 78 Beyer off a 5 1/2-month break, so against a loaded Raven Run field she was predictably the second-longest shot in the mutuels at 51-1. But Saez saved all the ground and Army's Marauder improved dramatically in her second start after the layoff–rewarding owner Mike Houser with a Grade II-placed filly.4–MALIBU SMART, KEE, 10/18-7th, Dowager Stakes (Gr. III), 1 1/2mTBeyer Speed Figure–92 (video)(m, 6, English Channel–Mooghareadh, by Malibu Moon)O-Michael Hui & Phil Forte. B-Shadwell Farm (Ky). T-Mike Maker. J-Ben Curtis.Back in December, she was a typical $30,000 Maker claim–a turf runner bred for stamina that he targeted for possible improvement at three-turn distances. She hadn't won in five subsequent starts after the claim until suddenly finding her rhythm in a Saratoga allowance, and now has rattled off three straight victories. This was her first try versus graded company and she responded with a seven-point Beyer top.3–MYTHICAL, KEE, 10/17-9th, Raven Run Stakes (Gr. II), 7fBeyer Speed Figure–93 (2nd) (video)(f, 3, St Patrick's Day–Lailoni, by Brethren)O/B-Arindel (FL). T-Jorge Delgado. J-Emisael Jaramillo.Despite her 33-1 odds, this didn't come from left field. Mythical had previously shown the ability to run this fast when in peak form and with the right trip, and both boxes were checked in the Raven Run. Against the strongest field she has seen since her 2-year-old season, she controlled a moderate pace when favorite Mashallah messed up the break then held nicely for second. She also was reunited with Jaramillo, who has ridden her seven times with five wins and two seconds.2–QUADRUPLE, WO, 10/17-10th, Ontario Fashion Stakes (Gr. III), 6f (AWT)Beyer Speed Figure–93 (video)(m, 5, Frankel {GB}–Soffia {GB}, by Kyllachy {GB})O-Mark Dodson. B-Juddmonte Farms (GB). T-Josie Carroll. J-Ryan Munger.Carroll has been on a roll, with six winners from her last 13 Woodbine starters going into this week–including this Frankel mare Dodson originally purchased in Ireland from Juddmonte and trainer Ger Lyons. In her five previous Canadian starts, she was twice graded-stakes placed and this was her first graded win. Following a similar theme, Dodson and Carroll also teamed to win a Grade III last month with 4-year-old filly Lupa, bought for 200,000 guineas (about $280,000) as a Tattersalls yearling from Rabbah Bloodstock.1–MOVIE NIGHT, KEE, 10/17-9th, Raven Run Stakes (Gr. II), 7fBeyer Speed Figure–97 (video)(f, 3, Speightstown–Savvy Star, by Medaglia d'Oro)O/B-WinStar Farm (Ky). T-Will Walden. J-Flavien Prat. The way she'd been running, it seemed only a matter of short time before she got a graded 'W'. In the GIII Dogwood Stakes last month, she hit the wire two heads behind Conceit and Explora, and the latter will be among the favorites in the GI Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint. And in the Raven Run, she was clearly best with a 97 Beyer that makes a nice fig trifecta with her previous 96 and 94. Her damside pedigree is a classic Phipps/WinStar blend combining Numbered Account, Dance Number, Rhythm, Daydreaming etc. back in the day with WinStar's 2006 Kentucky Derby runner-up Bluegrass Cat. She's also a half-sister to WinStar-bred Grade III winner Stellify (Justify), pre-entered for the GI Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf. The post Six Speedy Fillies For the Week of Oct. 12-18, 2026 appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
