Bitcoin: Still Inside October’s Neutral RangeBitcoin / U.S. dollarBITSTAMP:BTCUSDTrade-LeanBitcoin pushed up to around $84.8K this week, but the bulls couldn't hold it. Price is now back near $81.5K, just below the October pivot at $81,950. So did that rejection change the picture? On the monthly grid, we're still in the same neutral range. S 0.184 sits at around $79,650, and R 0.184 at around $84,250. Through most of October, price has been moving back and forth between those areas. And that's what I expect in the middle of the map. One side pushes, the other pushes back, and neither gets very far. Look at the latest rally. The bulls drove price into the R 0.184 zone, which runs from roughly $83,770 to $84,890. But they didn't get a daily close above the whole zone. The next session took price straight back toward the pivot. So for now, that was another unsuccessful attempt to leave the neutral range. What would make me change that reading? On the upside, I'd want a daily close above $84,890. Then I'd watch R 0.382 at around $86,710. That's the bears' next line of defense. If price gets through it and holds, the next area on my map is the R 0.702 zone, roughly $89,650–$91,740. On the downside, I'm watching the whole S 0.184 zone, around $79,010–$80,130. A daily close below it would put price in bearish territory on this monthly grid. Then S 0.382 at around $77,190 becomes the next test. Until then, I don't see a confirmed move out of the range. Bitcoin is back in the middle, and I'm waiting for one side to get price accepted outside it. Chart: BTCUSD, Bitstamp. Daily candles, October monthly pivots only.
