What should have been a joyful wedding night quickly became an “unforgettable” experience when police pulled the couple over. Bride Kara Lewis Webb captured the moment on video and shared it on Instagram, documenting their unexpected encounter. The reel is punctuated by dramatic on-screen text: “WE GOT PULLED OVER ON OUR WEDDING NIGHT.” Kara wrote in her caption: “Well, that was unexpected.” Kara, 25, married West Webb, 33, at Ramble Creek in Athens, Tennessee, on Sunday, Oct. 11—a day she described as “truly a fairy tale.” She told PEOPLE, “It could not have gone more perfectly and was everything we had hoped for.” However, the couple’s “perfect” day ended almost instantly after they hit the road to their honeymoon spot. “Within five minutes, we saw the blue and red lights flashing in the rearview mirror,” Kara recalled. “Initially, I assumed we were getting pulled over for a missing headlight or maybe an issue with our tags. But no, apparently it was much worse.” A story that the couple will never forget In the video, a police officer emerges from the darkness with a flashlight and approaches a rolled-down window. “Have you ever been in California?” he asks. “Yes, I have,” the groom replies. The officer then asks in a serious tone, “Well, have you had a speeding ticket there that you never took care of? Because I have a warrant for your arrest.” View this post on Instagram Fortunately, the tense moment ended quickly when the officer smiled and admitted, “I’m kidding.” “Oh, my gosh!” West exclaimed, laughing with Kara. “That was wild.” The officer then congratulated the newlyweds, advising them to “be careful” and “slow down” before walking away. In that moment, the couple felt “confused.” Kara said, “My heart sank. For a moment, I genuinely had no idea what was happening.” She explained that the prank felt especially “believable” because the officer referenced California, where she and West reside. As a photographer, videographer, and social media storyteller, Kara points out that the officer “could have kept the prank going longer than he did,” but she was grateful he “lightened the mood almost immediately.” The couple says the unexpected moment added to an already unforgettable day. “Of all the ways we could have ended our wedding night, this was certainly not one we saw coming,” Kara said. “One thing for sure is, we will be telling this story for the rest of our lives.”
