I've been working on bringing Burnout Revenge to Apple silicon Macs, preserving the Xbox 360 game's cars, tracks, physics and wonderfully chaotic Crash events, while making the whole experience comfortable on a modern Mac. The port uses ahead-of-time PowerPC-to-ARM64 recompilation, with Vulkan rendering through MoltenVK. The current release is v0.1.23. GitHub & screenshots · Download Here's what’s included: Online multiplayer. Race, play Road Rage and Crash modes, and share or download Burnout Clips. Join the Xerenge community server, run your own with the included lobby server, or play over serverless LAN. Two-player local split-screen is supported too. The original achievements. All 36 Xbox 360 achievements / 1000 G, with an integrated browser, original artwork, unlock notifications and persistent local progress. Rewind and optional cheats. Experimental 10/20/30-second rewind in six solo World Tour event types, including Crash, with configurable keyboard and controller shortcuts. Five offline Codes include infinite boost, infinite time and faster money/takedown progress. Save import and management. Bring over Xbox 360 save packages, Xenia saves or raw game saves. Automatic versioned backups, an integrated restore menu and crash-safe writes help protect your progress. An optional 100% save is available separately with the release. EA Trax or your own soundtrack. Enjoy the original music from your disc, or play a shuffled personal collection in MP3, AAC, ALAC, FLAC, WAV or AIFF. Custom music follows the game's pauses and fades, with now-playing notifications. Nine languages. Both the port’s interface and original game text support English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Swedish and Finnish. Additional game translations are imported from your own supported European disc image. Modern picture and camera options. Internal resolution up to 4K, SMAA/FXAA, FSR 1 and experimental MetalFX Spatial, sharpening and up to 16× anisotropic filtering. Proper aspect-ratio handling adds horizontal view on ultrawide screens and vertical view on taller displays, keeping the HUD correctly proportioned. You can extend detailed vehicle rendering distance and adjust bloom, motion blur, driving FOV, chase-camera distance and camera shake. An installer and settings interface that belong in Burnout. The first-run installer and integrated menus follow the game's visual style, with its fonts, sounds and controller navigation. Setup verifies your disc files and supports add-on car packs, including later imports. Keyboard remapping, Xbox/DualSense support, vibration and device-aware button prompts complete the package. The focus is on the details that make this comfortable to keep playing: faithful presentation, integrated options and careful handling of existing saves. The latest release passed 141 automated tests, alongside targeted in-game checks. It’s still an early community project: rewind is experimental, a complete career playthrough hasn’t been verified, and online testing has used multiple copies on one Mac rather than separate Macs. Achievements are local; global online rankings aren’t available. Requirements: Apple silicon, macOS 15+, and your own supported USA Xbox 360 disc image. No game data is distributed. Special thanks to Xerenge by shipa-2 for the Burnout research, online protocol work and lobby server that made so much of this possible. And a separate huge thank-you to project(u), the creator of SpeedBreaker, and its contributors for the runtime and Mac foundation this port builds on. Thanks also to the XenonRecomp, Xenia and wider recompilation community — full credits here. I'd love to hear how it runs on your Mac, especially multiplayer reports and feedback on the new languages. submitted by /u/Secretpray to r/recomps [link] [comments]
