In the midst of a banner year and with the Breeders' Cup just around the corner, Cherie DeVaux took the time to take a walk with the TDN through her Rice Road base at Keeneland in this episode of Down the Shedrow, presented by OBS Sales. While GI Kentucky Derby hero Golden Tempo (Curlin) and dual Grade I winner Englishman (Maxfield) take center stage, DeVaux also introduces us to several trainees targeting undercard action on World Championships weekend. Plus, she shares next stops for her latest Keeneland winners and previews her stakes contenders running on closing Saturday of Keeneland's Fall Meet. Here is a preview of some of the stars featured in the latest Down the Shedrow: GOLDEN TEMPO (3, c. Curlin — Carrumba, by Bernardini)No intro needed for the Phipps Stable and St. Elias Stable homebred. It's been a blessing to have him and I can't say enough how grateful I am to get to train him. It's been fun watching him go from kind of a little pudgy baby and evolve into the racehorse that he is now. We're very excited about the Breeders' Cup Classic and really confident going into the raceREMEMBER MAMBA (3, c. Kitten's Joy — Gizmo, by Uncle Mo)The CRK Stable-campaigned colt won the GIII Transylvania Stakes here at Keeneland in April and runs in Saturday's GII Bryan Station Stakes. Remember Mamba wins the GIII Transylvania Stakes at Keeneland | Coady MediaWe kind of regrouped with him after Saratoga. Hindsight being 20/20, we thought he wanted to go longer. Neither race that he ran in Saratoga in their series was disappointing, but we just were expecting a bit more from him. So we're going to regroup. He's won here at Keeneland a couple of times and we're going to add blinkers on him. He looks fantastic and he's been training really impressively.HIGHWAYMEN (2, c. Curlin — Always On My Mind, by Congrats)Owned by Belladonna Racing, West Point Thoroughbreds and Woodford Racing, the colt has been putting in works since August. We're hoping to get him started on Breeders' Cup weekend. It'll be his first start. He's a really nice colt. He's by Curlin and acts like two turns will be his better distance. He's been really impressive in all of his morning works and has been very straightforward.HONOR IS MINE (2, f. Honor A.P. — Katherine, by Distorted Humor)Unraced filly has been putting in steady works at Keeneland since August. This is a homebred for CRK Stables. We are trying to get her started in a maiden race here on Breeders' Cup weekend. Her half-brother is Commentate (Candy Ride {Arg}), who won for us early in the meet here. Hopefully when she runs, she's a little different and doesn't come from eight lengths behind everybody and just gets up at the wire. She seems a lot more forward. She's been very impressive in all of her works, so she's one that we're looking forward to.MCCOY (2, c. Vekoma — Fat Kat, by Weigelia) Owned by a partnership led by Belladonna Racing, the colt was professional in his debut victory on 9-19.McCoy is a Pennsylvania bred. He won his first race first time out at Parx on Pennsylvania Derby day. We were going to run him in a stake here at Keeneland, but decided just to wait until the allowance race for him on Breeders' Cup weekend. He's a really good boy by Vekoma and has been training really well.TANNHAUSER (2, f. Corniche — Filia, by Fastnet Rock {Aus})A $550,000 OBS April purchase for Lael Stable, the filly won on debut by 1 1/2 lengths at Keeneland on 10-10.Tannhauser wins on debut at Keeneland | Coady MediaShe's a filly that came in and was physically super mature. She looks like an older mare and she acts like that around the barn. She handled herself great during the race and put in a winning effort first time out. The plan for her is kind of TBD. We'll probably run her back in an allowance race, but keeping all options open right now.The post Down the Shedrow with Cherie DeVaux, presented by OBS Sales appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
